My boyfriend and i were talking about weather or not God chooses us or if we choose him?
he believes we are chosen.
I believe in free will, i think.
God chose us to be here.
We choose what we do while we are here.
God chooses a place for us at the end based on the choices we made when were here.
Life is Gods ultimate test, weather or not we are worthy to live eternally in his kingdom. i believe he gives everyone a shot at eternal life.
BUT.. maybe.. here.
This is what i think i believe now, its kind of a mixture of what Joe and i both believe. God chose us and then we have to choose him. maybe? hmm im really confused on this subject.. its something i need to talk to my pastor about.
This verse is basically saying we must choose him too.
Romans 10:9-11
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
God chooses everyone who will let him into their lives. We as individuals have to choose to let him into our lives. God is eternal and incomprehensible.
AHHH john 15:16
You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
i think thats saying… God chooses people to spread this word though?

I must say that Romans passage follows right up on what I was talking about. God has to quicken a persons soul before they would ever even think of having him be their Lord. “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” Romans 1:21 Just like I said dead people don’t choose. We hate God as non-believers. Why would anyone want to follow someone that they hate, the thing is we don’t. Thats why God has to quicken our spirit before we would have even the slightest desire to seek after God. I hope that made sense=]

the way i thought you meant before is
As soon as God chooses you, you believe.. and you dont have any say in it. and you dont have to do anything.
but, that makes senses haha.
oh and when i said “god gives everyone a chance” .. i ment here on Earth. like living people. i know once you die.. and you havent been forgiven your screwed. haha.
